Self Love


We all use the term Self-Love so casually in our normal conversations that it seems like a new-age fad whereas we fail to understand the underlying meaning.
"You have to love yourself." "Why don't you love yourself?" "If you only loved yourself, this wouldn't have happened to you." "You can't love another person until you love yourself first." These are just a few of the statements portraying the image of self-love in society.

 “What is self-love and why is it important?” Come let us have a deeper look to understand!

Self-love is a state of appreciation for oneself and giving priority to our well-being and happiness, accepting our emotions for what they are, and putting our physical, emotional, and mental well-being first.

We have days to celebrate every relation in our life right from Mother’s Day to Father’s Day to Valentine’s Day. But we have no day to celebrate ourselves, pamper ourselves, or to even love ourselves a bit extra.
This should not be a roadblock in our self-love journey. Self-love is connected to our self-esteem, our ability to view ourselves as flawed, imperfect individuals and still hold ourselves in high regard.
Accepting and loving ourselves (weight, height, complexion, salary, education, accomplishments (both personal and professional)….just to name a few) will have less need to explain our shortcomings, have more compassion as we are struggling to find meaning for ourselves, and become more aligned with our life purposes and values.
To love yourself is to experience happiness and security on a whole new level.

One important question before we share the love with everyone is, do we love ourselves enough to spread it to people around us? The amount of love we share with everyone is directly proportional to how much we love ourselves. 
 
Self-love can mean something different for each person because we all have many Different Ways to take care of ourselves.

Three ways to start practicing self-love

1. Stop the comparisons. There is no one on this planet like you, so you cannot fairly compare yourself to someone else. The only person you should compare yourself to is your yesterday self.
2. Take time out to calm your mind every day. Breathe in and out, and clear your mind of your thoughts. Just breathe.

3. Move that gorgeous body of yours every single day and love the skin you’re in. You cannot hate your way into loving yourself. On days you don’t feel powerful, think about how far you’ve come, how you’ve survived. And be patient with yourself. Self-love may not happen overnight. But with time, it will settle itself into your heart.
